Our Annual Cookie Dough Fundraiser will begin on Thursday, October 25th and end on Thursday, November 8, 2018 All order forms and money need to be turned in by Thursday, November 8, 2018. The proceeds of this year’s fundraiser will go towards educational purposes.
This year we are asking that each student sell a minimum of 5 boxes. If we do this we will make over $5,000 profit. All boxes of cookies sell for $16.00. Your child has received his/her order form and will take orders and collect money. If you need more order forms, you can get them from the school office. He/she will submit their order forms and money to their teacher by Thursday, November 8th.
We do not encourage students to sell door to door but would rather they sell to relatives or well-known neighbors. Parents have also helped in the past by selling to co-workers and this is appreciated.
Please make checks payable to St. John School. Thank you for your support in helping us achieve our goals for the benefit of our students.
Delivery of the cookie dough will be Tuesday, November 20th @ 12:45 pm. We’ll give you notice so that you can bring your coolers to school when you pick up your child at the end of the day.
MONEY BAG: Each family who sells 15 boxes by Thursday, November 8, 2018 will get a chance to reach into the money bag. Families with more than one child should select who will draw from the money bag.
Remember: Every 15 boxes sold per family is another chance to reach into the money bag.
Whatever bill they pull from the bag (from $1-$50), they get to keep.

Salpointe Catholic High School, along with over 80% of all Catholic High Schools in the United States, uses the High School Placement Test (HSPT) as its Entrance Exam.

Notes about the Exam:
- You do not need to RSVP for the exam. Once the online application is completed, the student is signed up for the exam.
- Students can only take the Entrance Exam once.
- Salpointe will provide all exam materials.
- Calculators are not allowed.
- The exam takes about three and a half hours.
- Breaks will be included during the exam. If students wish to bring water or snacks to have during breaks, that is up to them.
All applicants for the Class of 2022 are required to take the Entrance Exam.

The first of its kind, middle school students will be presenting science and engineering projects designed to help us and your students better understand the world around us. If you would like to listen to a specific (6th, 7th or 8th) grade presentation(s), the schedule is as follows:

In an effort to manage the transition of classroom visitors to and from the cafeteria, please sign up to visit our the Science Fair. Given our limited space, only two classes will be scheduled every half hour. During the presentation time, you have the ability to provide feedback to our future students by visiting this Science Fair Project Evaluation form. At the end of your visit, please tell us about your overall experience at the Science Fair and how we can improve next year’s Science Fair.

We are pleased to inform you that the School Board unanimously voted to affirm enrollment to include two classes at each grade level (Kindergarten through 8th Grade). Pursuit of this course of action has been authorized by our parish and school administration.
We will continue to offer PreKindergarten opportunities for those families who are interested. It is anticipated that the expansion plan will be implemented as follows:
• 2018-19: SJE enrollment to include an additional 6th grade
• 2019-20: Growth will accommodate two 7th grade classes
• 2020-21: Full-capacity anticipated when we have two 8th grade class

The tournament schedule/bracket was just released. The brackets for each tournament are below, as is a summary of rules and the schedule.
Overall (from the League Director)
- Both days of the tournament will be held at Immaculate Heart Academy. (Magee, East of Oracle)
- Student-athletes must be in full, correct uniforms (jersey w/correct number, solid shorts, proper shoes, WHITE socks).
- Tournament is quasi-double-elimination.
- Once a team loses, they cannot get back to the winner's side of the bracket.
- Teams can still earn higher placing until they lose a second time.
- I will work on a schedule for table duties.
- I am requesting that ADs do NOT keep score during the CHAMPIONSHIP game for either basketball or volleyball- you should be readily available to help coaches and/or address parent/spectator issues.
- Absolutely no signs, no bullhorns, no pompoms, no balloons, etc. will be allowed in the gym (as stated in our handbook). One warning will be given. If it is not corrected, individuals will be told to leave.
- Please note: No food or gum is allowed in the gym. Food can be eaten in the dining area or outside.
- First game: 9:00 a.m. vs. SEAS
- Second game: 11:00 or 1:00.
- Third game (if qualified): Sunday - 12 noon or 2:30.
- Each school needs a coach present for the mandatory meeting on Saturday, 11/4 @ 8:15 a.m.
- A.D. cannot substitute for a coach at the meeting, per handbook.
- First game: 2:30 p.m. vs. San Xavier
- Second game: 4:30 or 5:30
- Third game (if qualified): Sunday at 9:00 or 10:00 a.m.
- Fourth game (if qualified): Sunday at 11:00, 12:00, or 1:30

To kick-off Catholic Schools Week, a national celebration of Catholic education, St. John the Evangelist Catholic School is hosting an Open House on Sunday, January 29, 2017. We invite you to visit with our teachers and learn more about our excellent spiritual, academic, and extracurricular activites that will put your child on the path to college and heaven. The Open House is intended for current and prospective families and for friends and alumni of St. John's to see the great work being done at our school.
The 3rd grade class will be hosting the 10 AM Family Mass. During Mass, the 7th grade students will receive the Rite of Introduction. Following Mass, the Folklorico and Mariachi will perform in the cafeteria and the Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade teachers will be present to showcase student work and answer any questions you have about St. John the Evangelist.

Professional Experience: I was employed by the City of Carson, California in the Special Interest Dept. as the assistant coordinator for Fine Arts related events. I become a teacher in early education for grades Kinder and first, as well as the K-8 grade music teacher for St. Lucy Catholic School prior to relocating to Tucson, AZ. I taught first and second grade at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic School before transitioning into the administrative role. I served as Assistant Principal for two years at St. John the Evangelist Catholic School prior to becoming the Principal in the 2016-17 school year. I was blessed with the opportunities to collaborate with other teachers and administration within the Diocese of Tucson on various curriculum related projects and training.
Hobbies and Interests: I am also a professional musician. I enjoy spending as much time with my family. We love to spend our time reading as a family and going on excursions. Health and nutrition is very important to me. I love to run and weight lift.

I possess over fourteen years educational experience spanning grades K-8 with a specific concentration in multiple subject elementary education, K-8 music education, and curriculum and instruction planning. My most recent administrative experience has been shaped by two years of successful leadership as an Assistant Principal here at St. John. I am elated to bring my skills as an educational leader to your son/daughter’s school and to work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child’s success.
Along with staff, I will work hard to continue the legacy of success established at St. John by building strong relationships with parents, students, staff, and community partners. We will focus on strengthening our Catholic identity, 21stCentury skills, fostering a nurturing safe environment for children, use of data to inform instruction, consistent implementation of newly adopted student led conferences and Academic Parent Teacher Training (APTT), and providing exciting and challenging enrichment opportunities for all students.
I anticipate a most successful year as St. John teachers and staff support the academic, social, and emotional growth of your child.

Mi experiencia administrativa más reciente ha sido formada por dos años de liderazgo exitoso como una subdirectora aquí, en San Juan. Estoy muy contenta de poder utilizar mis habilidades de liderazgo educativo en la escuela de su hijo/hija y trabajar con usted en equipo en la educación de su hijo/hija para asegurarle su éxito.
